Visiting the Gironde also means discovering its remarkable heritage. Just an hour from the campsite, Bordeaux is home to UNESCO World Heritage monuments such as Place de la Bourse, Saint-André Cathedral, Pey-Berland Tower and Palais Gallien.
Culture lovers will appreciate the Cité du Vin, an immersive museum dedicated to wine civilizations around the world. Further north, the Cordouan lighthouse, a UNESCO World Heritage site, can be visited on boat excursions departing from the Pointe du Médoc.

Active tourism: the best things to do in Gironde
Discovering the Gironde in active mode means taking advantage of a life-size playground. From the campsite, there are over 150 km of cycle paths along the Vélodyssée itinerary. Cycle to the ocean, the lake or the forest and explore the region at your own pace.
Thrill-seekers will be delighted with :
- Surfing and bodyboarding on the Lacanau Océan spots
- Windsurfing, kitesurfing and waterskiing on the lake
- Tree climbing in local parks
- Paintball and laser tag for fun with friends

Tourism in Lacanau also means a lively local life throughout the season. Every summer, the Lacanau Pro brings together the best international surfers on the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. In June, the Lacanau Beach Handball attracts athletes and spectators to the beach. Camping Les Jardins du Littoral is proud to be a partner of this friendly event.
And don’t miss the markets:
- Wednesday morning market in Lacanau Océan.
- The Lacanau town market on Saturday mornings: the time when locals gather around the oyster bar and stalls selling regional produce.
